Inspiration + Energy = Stuff Happening!

Inspiration
Energy

As an artist I can’t decide which is more important, Inspiration, or Energy. But in the end, to get things done, an artist needs to have both.

This is a two-part series of self portraits, depicting inspiration and energy.

Historically, portraits were formal and stiff, typically depicting the subject in the best light. Also, traditional portraits don’t typically capture what was going on in the subject’s mind at the time of the painting. So I thought it would be fun to do two self portraits that were the opposite – unflattering and unceremonious, and including what is on my mind these days – the pieces in my portfolio.

“Inspiration” includes characters from various pieces in my portfolio that give me inspiration, “Energy” features some of my favourite characters of all my pieces that give me energy.

These images are acrylic marker and paint, on paper and canvas board.
