Unicorn Asylum

The Unicorn Asylum is a performance installation piece I performed at the SCIN Festival exhibition at OCADu. I showed this durational performance for two hours.

This piece questions whether ignorance is in fact bliss, or whether it is foolish to ignore the existential crises facing humanity. A layer of plush unicorns shields the occupant from the harsh reality outside, while a self-imposed straight jacket represents the delusional indifference of the occupant. This piece is a metaphor for remaining mired in childish ignorance, despite knowing it is not in one’s best interest, trapping one in a fantasy of one’s own innocent delusions.
